Our School

Lawefield Primary School came into existence in September 1998 when Lawefield Infant School merged with Lawefield Junior School.  Lawefield School was originally built in 1911 as an elementary school and in 1972 it changed to a 5-13 Middle and First School.

The school is a mixed community primary school, which caters for pupils 3-11 years, and is situated within walking distance of Wakefield city centre.  It has a secure, enclosed playground for the Infant children and a more open playground for the Junior children.  There is a large adjoining playingfield.

The building was refurbished and updated at the time of Wakefield Area Reorganisation in 1992-3.  There are eight large and spacious classrooms, a library, two halls, a relaxation room and several extra rooms that are used for specialist activities or group work.
