This is Nursery. They are taught by Miss Bailes while Mrs Haskins is on maternity leave. Miss White is the Nursery Nurse and Mrs Ashraf is the support assistant in Nursery.
This Spring term our topic will be based on the Chinese New Year, Pattern and Chicks and we will learn about:
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
We will learn how to play cooperatively in our farm role play.
We will learn how to be independent by choosing activities by ourselves.
We will play turn-taking games.
We will be developing pencil, paintbrush and scissor control while taking part in Chinese New Year activities.
We will become independent in getting our own coats and boots on.
We will be learning to move indifferent ways, such as crawling, swinging, shuffling and skipping.
Communication & Language
We will be encouraging good listening and attention skills in order to develop good friendships.
The children will learn all the vocabulary needed to describe the life cycle of a chick. They will recount their experiences.
We will write Mother’s Day cards and Easter cards.
We will record ‘The Living Eggs Programme’ in their own chick diary.
We will invite all the children to dress up as a character from a book for World Book Day.
We will learn ‘My Mum and Dad make me laugh’ using the ‘Talk for writing’ method.
Understanding the World
We will learn about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated.
We will learn about the Spring weather as opportunities arise.
In ICT we will learn to develop mouse control using programs such as Colour Magic, My World, the VLE and Espresso.
Expressive Arts and Design
We will make Chinese New Year and Easter resources.
We will play in our barn role play.
We will learn our rhymes of the week.
In number we will be counting to 20 and back from ten. We will be counting sets and saying when sets have the same amount and we will begin to recognize numerals to 20. We will make a giant number freize.
In Shape, Space and Measures we will be learning about 3D shape names and their properties. We will learn positional language.
